John Smith Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 Just wonderin how many of you have it...it started randomly last night...just a very slight ring, but it's there...didnt know it was a symptom as well, although i had had ringin once or twice while high in the early days of my HPPD...shit sucks
VisualDude Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 Yes, tinnitus has been a problem. Often connected with inflammation and/or 'hot' brain. Better now.
vexation Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 I have it quite often. It is definitely not as annoying as it was 4 years ago, but I may just be used to it now.
LarryC Posted November 25, 2011 Report Posted November 25, 2011 Tinnitus also did not start for me at the time the visuals started. The visuals increased in type over time. Then the tinnitus started in the left ear one evening. Then eventually the right started. The left is louder and it is very loud now. Disturbing. DEoc said I should have an MRI to see if there is some growth there since it is predominent on one side. A small percentage of people who have it on one side mostly have a benign growth. But these docs don't know about hppd. I posted a link, where a recent theory of tinnitus says the cause is as the the same science as hppd. This is interesting since hppdrs often have tinitus And also the treatments, gaba agonists, the same as for hppd - klonopin. The additional type of treatment were meds that worked as antagonist to the stimulation chemical (don't rememberthe chimical in the brain). Look for my posts. Don't have that many.
alice-acid Posted November 27, 2011 Report Posted November 27, 2011 yeahh i had it at the start but my symptoms seem to be calming down after about 6 months of sobriety and tinnitus was the first to go but it was sooo annoying wen i had it
John Smith Posted November 28, 2011 Author Report Posted November 28, 2011 Glad to hear youre feelin better alice! Thought youd had it for less than 6 months though.
Comfortably Numb Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 I developed a quite terrible case of tinnitus maybe a year or so after my HPPD started. It really drove me nuts when I was trying to sleep. I found the best thing that helped was falling asleep with some music on or TV in the background. Tinnitus is the worst when there's zero sound...
Comfortably Numb Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 Oh, and I should also add that it went away after several months. It's connected to anxiety, so to the extent that you can minimize your anxiety, your tinnitus should get better partly or entirely.
Br0k3nS41nt Posted December 5, 2011 Report Posted December 5, 2011 I have always had tinnitus, I had just discovered it one day as a child going to bed after coming down from a fever. It was never bad, listening to sound is able to get rid of it for the most part, however, it has gotten worse since HPPD. I wouldn't put it up there as a symptom I worry about at all though.
shaolinbomber Posted December 12, 2011 Report Posted December 12, 2011 I have it as well. I think it came one when the visuals did but I didn't notice it till later.
Nedd Posted March 18, 2012 Report Posted March 18, 2012 yeahh i had it at the start but my symptoms seem to be calming down after about 6 months of sobriety and tinnitus was the first to go but it was sooo annoying wen i had it hey alice I've recently developed tinnitus which is odd because things were going okay for me, my anxiety was reduced after a meditation retreat and I had been sober for about a month. Just wondering really if during your sobriety did you avoid clubs and loud music etc??
Ghormeh Sabzi Posted March 18, 2012 Report Posted March 18, 2012 hey alice I've recently developed tinnitus which is odd because things were going okay for me, my anxiety was reduced after a meditation retreat and I had been sober for about a month. Just wondering really if during your sobriety did you avoid clubs and loud music etc?? I recently developed it as well. It's not too bad though. Maybe try large doses of Ester-C (2000-3000mg per day). Some people over at the visual snow forum had success with this. I haven't tried it myself.
alice-acid Posted March 18, 2012 Report Posted March 18, 2012 helooo nedd no to be honest i have very severe like... abandonment fears so the idea of not continuing with my social life just wasnt an option really, i'd just end up depressed and shit and it'd all get worse really cant say it was as much fun though i wont lie
alice-acid Posted March 18, 2012 Report Posted March 18, 2012 oh and boogres sorry never read your reply. had it since like spring last year so probably about a year now o:
Nedd Posted March 18, 2012 Report Posted March 18, 2012 Safe, thanks Ghormeh Sabzi may give that a try Yeah alice i also get the same problem at times, heard it once described as 'fomo' or 'fear of missing out' not quite sure if its a propa phobia though aha Was only asking though as did this make tinnitus worse for you? even temporarily? It does a bit for me and i'm wondering if i am to recovery should i really be staying in. I'm even concerned about using my ipod too much which is a shame because i fucking love music
alice-acid Posted March 18, 2012 Report Posted March 18, 2012 to be honest im not sure i dont think u should spend too much time near massive sound systems or anything but you cant simply let tinnitus stop you goin out with mates i dont think it'll make enough difference to matter mine never seemed to be especially worse after a night out that i noticed though
John Smith Posted March 19, 2012 Author Report Posted March 19, 2012 Yeah this is an old thread i started a while ago, i just started a new one...my tinnitus was gone, went to a club last night and now it's back and worse than ever, it feels like my ear is clogged...i only get it in my right ear though.
alice-acid Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 its a small price to pay for a good laugh though i think
415_stylee Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 I have it. For me it´s like a electric buzzing kind of sound. Have had it since HPPD onset, and it has not waned in any way. But after 6 years, I´ve gotten really used to it.
John Smith Posted March 20, 2012 Author Report Posted March 20, 2012 It's gone down considerably, but it's NOT a small price to pay...i could see that shit driving someone insane honestly, if it's loud enough
alice-acid Posted March 21, 2012 Report Posted March 21, 2012 yeah i suppose, is it constantly? mine was only really during the evening so its not as bad
John Smith Posted March 23, 2012 Author Report Posted March 23, 2012 i wouldnt notice it when i was listening to music or somethin, but yeah it was constant, it's gone away though
2muchmandy Posted March 23, 2012 Report Posted March 23, 2012 glad its gone away dude. that shit would drive me fuckin wild. i thought i had it the other night, turns out my phone charger was whining at the wall so i turned it off. thank fuck
John Smith Posted March 24, 2012 Author Report Posted March 24, 2012 yeah man some cop around where i live (he was high ranking so it was big news) apparently killed himself because his tinnitus was so bad...i could see that shit drivin someone crazy for sure..thanks man im glad too haha
