marce Posted September 30, 2017 Report Posted September 30, 2017 Hey everyone, one of my symptoms is tinnitus-like ringing in my ears, ive heard that eardrops help with people who suffer from actual tinnitus but does anyone know if it will help with my symptom too? thanks, marce
Joeygeorgie88 Posted September 30, 2017 Report Posted September 30, 2017 I doubt it bud. Tinnitus is one of the least bothersome symptoms in my opinion. I advise you just try and ignore it.
marce Posted September 30, 2017 Author Report Posted September 30, 2017 Ive been trying, it gets pretty loud and its annoying, but thanks anyways
MadDoc Posted September 30, 2017 Report Posted September 30, 2017 I have terrible tinnitus. It started about 4 years ago and it's really loud. I my case I think decades of loud music was the cause. Doctors have been useless and I'm not going to stop going to shows so I just ignore it the best I can.
marce Posted September 30, 2017 Author Report Posted September 30, 2017 Really so music worsened it? I play music constantly on earbuds to not hear the ringing so should I stop? or was it only because of concert music not earbuds?

I think the threshold for hearing damage is about 85 dB, so as long as you keep the volume at a reasonable level you should be fine. I have tinnitus too and listen to music while I work (and have for the past several years), and my audiologist said my hearing is completely normal.
MadDoc Posted September 30, 2017 Report Posted September 30, 2017 (edited) I was told that loud music over a long period of time can cause tinnitus. Since I was a kid I've always loved going to rock shows and, as you all know, those events can be LOUD. Strangely enough, my hearing is still quite good for an old guy. As I said, I'm not going to stop going. My wife and I went to a show last night and the crickets are chirping in my head. Worth it though. Nothing like a great show. Edited October 1, 2017 by MadDoc
K.B.Fante Posted October 1, 2017 Report Posted October 1, 2017 I work around heavy machinery and listen to music all day and when I come home my ears are ringing pretty bad. Clearly there's a connection to loud noise in my case because if I stay away from loud noises I'm fine.
Guest Posted October 1, 2017 Report Posted October 1, 2017 I used to have tinnitus but it went away. So there's hope.
adubbs Posted October 3, 2017 Report Posted October 3, 2017 I think Tinnitus from noise and Tinnitus from HPPD or drugs is different...the latter being a lack of signaling of some sort I imagine, the first being due to damage to the inner ear
